Martha Salt Gig News – June 21

Welcome to Martha Salt Music, and thank you for joining with us!

We’ve been busy getting ready for our first show with the fabulous Nick Charles and Mick Pealing this Saturday the 3rd. This gig sold out within a week or so, saving me from a melt down (what am I doing starting a music venue in a pandemic!!). Couldn’t be more happy with the support you have all provided, fantastic. If you’re one of the lucky 80 (venue limits with COVID at present) make sure you listen out for Nick when he plays  Albatross (Fleetwood Mac/Peter Green) and Mick when he sings some of the wonderful Stars hits.

Tracy has produced miracles in sewing up the stage backdrop curtains which look great, and I’ve been hustling up some last minute equipment to make sure the sound is just right. Looking forward to welcoming you this Saturday to Martha Salt in person!

Next up on Saturday July 17th we have the great Jump Cats at Martha Salt. What a gas these guys are. Chris ‘Stibbo’ Hanger has  the best voice for that 50’s style LA jump blues and ‘Harpo’ on guitar with his Matchless vintage all valve amp will have you, well – jumping! Can’t wait. Tickets are moving out the door, so grab them while you can.

Next up will be Collard Greens and Gravy (31st July). You have to hear Ian Collard play blues harmonica to believe just how good he is. Astounding, a blues master. This band is top class, make no mistake. Jason Luisoon on drums can shuffle those blues. The fabulous Dave Birtwell on guitar (you’ll swear that’s Ronnie Earl up there) and Dale on the bass. Man what a band. Tracy and I recently saw them at George Lane in St Kilda and they absolutely killed it. Love this band.

In August the incredible Kelly Auty is bringing her full band to Martha Salt. What a treat. Tickets are on sale and won’t last long.

We’ve just about signed one of this country’s blues super groups for Martha Salt late August. They recently recorded at Sun Studios in Memphis, and feature a superb  guitarist, a hot hot Hammond organ player and a singing drummer. You may guess who this is, but I’ll reveal full details next time!

We are easing in with our venue partner (Mt Martha Bowls, Petanque and Social Club) with fortnightly shows to start. We’ll see how everything is going before ramping it up for the spring and summer.
