Martha Salt Gig News – July 14

Well what a fantastic night we all had at Martha Salt with Nick Charles and Mick Pealing. Wonderful music and a full house of enthusiastic music lovers. Nick’s guitar work was outstanding and Mick reminded us all why he has one of the best voices in Australia – and all those Stars hits, wow! They have asked to come back to Martha Salt, and even bring the full Stars band next time. Stay turned for that, maybe as the weather warms up.

There are a couple of tables left for The Jump Cats this Saturday, and then they’re gone! With the COVID restrictions eased, you will be able to dance on the Bowlo’s custom built dance floor – if that’s your thing!. And believe me, you won’t be able to sit still. Tracy and her team (welcome Anne!) will have delicious cheese platters available from the bar – and we have upgraded our stage lighting from our first week ( it all takes time). Next up will be Collard Greens and Gravy (31st July). As I said last time, you have to hear Ian Collard play blues harmonica to believe just how good he is. Astounding, a blues master. This band is top class, make no mistake. I first interviewed Ian when he performed with Dom Turner (Backsliders) back in 2007 at the Adelaide International Guitar Festival. He blew everybody away then, and still does today with the new lineup. Come hear why CGG won the Australian Recording Industry Association’s top award for blues and roots. Tickets are moving fast.

Kelly Auty is bringing her full band to Martha Salt on the 14th August. Kelly will be bringing her band of brothers and be playing blues, roots, R&B and a little bit of country! What a treat!

As I hinted at last time, I can now reveal Martha Salt will have The Checkerboard Lounge with us on the 28th August. This band recently recorded in Sun Studio Memphis whilst representing Australian in the International Blues Challenge.
